Presentation Summary
Dr. George Northoff will use the opportunity to present the complexity of mental disorders like depression and schizophrenia and how they may be related to the brain. He will then sketch his own professional and transcontinental path and how it ultimately led him to Canada to investigate how we can better diagnose and therapy depression and schizophrenia. Examples from his own research are given providing a first glimpse how our brain makes it possible that we have consciousness and a sense of self and, at the same time, how they become altered in schizophrenia and depression.
